Youth Exclusive: Tyson
It’s here! The first glimpse at emerging artist Tyson’s debut single, ‘Merry Go’ and she’s coming out the gates blazing.
If you happened to be one of her 37k followers on instagram, then you have long anticipated to hear just what her music sounds like. She’s been extra secretive in letting anything out before the big release, posting videos of her performing but with no sound(!!). Yesterday she posted a teaser of her blowing a kiss with the title ‘Merry Go’ and the caption ‘TWO DAYS TILL MY FIRST SINGLE AND MUSIC VIDEO.’ Of course, much to her friends and fans excitement, she’s releasing not only a single but a video full of stunning visuals directed by her beau Austin Simkins. Do we smell a juicy romance story brewing?
The video is full of 2000s-esque era vibes and it might be too early to tell, but it looks like a baby Xtina is being born. The girl can sing. AND dance. The video closes with a classic music video dance scene, where she and four of her girls dance their hearts out on a wet floor. This video has all the things we loved about the 2000s and the song brings a fresh new sound to our nostalgia.
The song has a moody and slightly dark feel for a pop song but that’s exactly what pulls you into it. It talks about the ups and downs of a relationship and comes off strong with lyrics like, ‘throw it in my face, yea I’ll throw it right back.’ Or ‘yea I might be crazy, but you’re the one to blame. Pushing all my buttons, two can play that game.’ She’s unafraid to speak honestly about the way-too-relatable relationship feels and we love her for it. A girl unafraid to speak her mind? Tyson couldn’t have arrived more on time.
